- Once upon the time the story told that in West Sumatra there was a family who lived in the small hut in the edge of beach. They were Buyung and his wife. They had married two days ago, but they had not had a baby. They used to pray to the God in the morning and evening for having a baby soon. Buyung worked as fisherman in the afternoon, he fished by using his bubu/ pancing The fish would be sold in the market or bartered to other sellers.
- THE LEGEND OF SINGKARAK LAKE
- After his body was so exhausted, Indra came back to at home. He entered the home by kitchen door. He was shocked when he met his parents were sleeping because full of eating at the kitchen. The plates of their lunch were untidy on the table. He did not see any food on the table. He felt so sad why his parents laid him. His tear was dropped though his check. He went out and caught his lovely chicken, Taduang. They sat on the stone beside of his hut.
- Indra shared his feeling to Taduang, it was liked to know his boss’s feeling so it was used to cock. He felt that his parents did not love him and he wanted to leave the home. Suddenly, Taduang opened his wings widely and Indra handled in its legs. It flight higher and higher to the sky by bringing Indra’s body. And the stone which was sat by him, was menempel on his feet. Taduang could not fly higher because the stone was bigger and bigger, so Indra kicked it. It hit the hill near of beach. The stone hempasan made a long hole. The sea water flew fast so made a river channel. The sea water was decreased and made a Singkarak lake.
