- The Aztecs were a very diverse and interesting tribe searching for a new home. According to Gods, they were guided by their god Huitzilopochtli to create their home in a place where they would see an eagle on a cactus. This vision came true on a small island in Lake Texcoco, and that's where they founded their capital city, Tenochtitlan, in 1325. Over the years, Tenochtitlan grew into a giant city. The Aztecs created a society, with a social structure and soldiers and even a military. They made their empire through and made alliances with other city-states.
- In the Aztec Empire, they sold and ate a variety of foods. Maize (corn) in their diet, and they used it to make dishes like tortillas, tamales, and atole, which is a corn drink. They also enjoyed beans, squash, tomatoes, avocados, chili peppers, and even had chocolate in the form of a frothy beverage called xocoatl. Their cuisine was very diverse and usually healthy.
- In 1519, Hernan Cortes, a Spanish conquistador and he was an explorer and a soldier and desired for gold and fortune from other countries. Cortez set sail from Spain with a fleet of ships in the early 16th century. He was on a mission to explore and conquer new territories. When Cortez came in the new land, which is known as Mexico, He named and created a town called La Villa Rica de la Veracruz. He encountered the mighty Aztec ruled by the emperor Montezuma. He also came with Malinche, a Aztec woman who escaped and gave birth to Cortez’s son, she came as a translator for the Spanish to help them understand the different language and culture
