- INTRODUCTION:
- It was one sunny day at Nagrebcan, and the fine, bluish mist low over the tobacco fields was lifting and thinning moment by moment. A ragged strip of mist had been dragged away by the early air and stuck on the stems of bamboo along the banks of the creek that spread to one side of the barangay. The sun will soon reach the Himontagon Hills, but no one was there yet. The neighborhood was slowly waking up in the gloomy shadow of the hills. Roosters and goats crowded and strutting on the field.
- EXPOSITION:
- It was just a usual start of the day on Nagrebcan where people start doing their job individually. And then it shows how a very pleasant morning turned into a horrible one just because of a misunderstanding of the two brothers. The innocent little puppy is the object of the conflict between Jayson and Arjay. In which it resulted into its violent death from the hand of their father, Tang Charles.
- CONFLICT:
- “I will kill you both, you bastards are so irritating.”
- As soon as he finished his meal, he began playing with the four puppies. After a while, he became bored with playing with them. Suddenly, when he saw Arjay holding the other one, he wanted to steal it from his brother because he wanted to play with it. Jayson refused, but Arjay refused to give up, resulting in their battle.
- Don't touch my puppies they are not yours! It's all mine! Mine only!
- RISING ACTION:
- “The dog has gone mad,””
- He noticed his brother Jayson eating a banana without first peeling it. He instructed his brother to peel the banana before eating it, explaining that this is the appropriate way to eat a banana. But his brother simply disregarded him, telling him that the banana wasn't his and that he wasn't the one eating it. He didn't pay attention to him.
- CLIMAX:
- During their quarrel, Arjay was accidentally bitten by the puppy on his hand, and their father, Tang Charles arrived at the same time. They were both afraid of seeing their father since they knew what was going to happen to them. Tang Charles noticed the dog snarling and its fur standing, so he walked to the kitchen and fetched a chunk of firewood. He thrashed the unfortunate puppy and flew it in the air till blood oozed from its mouth. And he also did not stop until the animal was completely dead, at which point he dumped the corpse into the cornfields.
- FALLING ACTION:
- After he killed the puppy, he went to the boys and beat them. Their mother can’t do anything because she knows she would only get beaten too. Tang Charles was yelling and cursing as he hit the boys because they wouldn't stop quarreling. Nana Lena couldn't look at the boys after they were hit, and all she could do was treat their wounds. She felt so much pity for what happened to the boys.
