  • 6 Day War Aftermath
  • no peace, no recognition, no negotiation
  • First Intifada
  • no peace, no recognition, no negotiation!!
  • Declaration of Principles
  • Israel won and acquired the Sinai Peninsula and Gaza Strip from Egypt, West Bank from Jordyn, and the Golan Heights from Syria. The Israelis were feeling cocky and had a strong sense of pride from their success. On the other hand, the Palestinians were not very happy. There was a dramatic increase in "Palestinian nationalistic and terrorist activities."
  • Assassination of Yitzhak Rabin
  • Yitzhak was an incredible man and did so many great things and had so much more to do. May he rest in peace.
  • 20 years later through other wars in December 1987, there were Palestinian riots and protests causing chaos and killings all across the west bank and Gaza strip and other places throughout Israel called the first intifada. This was caused by an Israeli truck driver who accidentally hit and killed 4 Palistinians and the Palistinians claimed it was on purpose. The Hassan family has witnessed a stabbing. These killings and riots lasted until September 1993.
  • Camp David summit
  • No.
  • In September 1993, the Oslo peace process began with the Declaration of Principles signed by the Palestinian president Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. The Jews were divided on their opinions on peace with the Palestinians. Akiva, Nahum, and Aharon all witnessed arguments, protests, riots, and physical violence over Yitzhak's actions. The Hassan family agreed with Rabin because they wanted peace with Palestine so they can live without fear or worry of civilians including children dying from bombings or chaos.
  • Second Intifada
  • On November 4, 1995, every Israeli remembers what they were doing and where they were when they found out that Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated by a fellow Israeli who disagreed with him. He finished giving a speech and decided before not to wear a bulletproof vest when asked because he said he trusted his people. The Hassan family remembers that night when they found out the news. They opened their tv to find this and they felt ao devastated especially since it was a fellow Israeli.
  • Ehud Barak replaced Rabin in his position as Prime Minister of Israeli and promised to continue the peace process with Palestine. In the Camp David Accords summit in July 2000 at Washington DC, Virginia, United States of America with Bill Clinton, Yasser Arafat rejected the plan.
  • This rejection to peace by Arafat led to a breakout of another intifada. The second intifada. This time, there were more deaths and violence than before. Akiva's son was walking by the result of a suicide bombing on a bus and he recalls it as "a horrific act of hatred and disgusting how anyone could do that"
