This quote supports the theme of violence in the outsiders, because there is a huge life threatening force taking place in front of Pony and Johnny's eyes, and a thought that they started the fire.

I tried to say something, but I couldn't make a sound." This quote supports the theme of violence throughout the outsiders, by showing the harsh physical and mental unwellness of Johnny's death.
