- George and the men are outside. Lennie is inside with the puppies. Lennie accidentally kills a puppy by petting it too hard. He covers it up by hiding the puppy.
- Curley's wife comes in. Lennie tells her that he can't talk to her. She tells Lennie that he can feel her soft hair. Lennie feels her hair.
- Lennie didn't let go of her hair and she screamed. Lennie was angry scared and angry. He shook her twice, which snapped her neck and killed her. Candy comes in and sees what happens. Candy went to go get people. Lennie runs off and hides.
- People rush in. Curley thought his wife was asleep at first but realized she was dead. Curley knows that Lennie killed his wife. He wants to shoot Lennie.
- Lennie runs away and hides. George finds Lennie. George tells Lennie the story of him getting to tend the rabbits. George tells Lennie to take his hat off.
- George kills Lennie with the gun he stole. Lennie shook and fell. The men find George and see that he killed Lennie. George told them that Lennie got a hold of the gun and he had no other choice but to shoot him.
