Hi! My name is Lena, I use they/them pronouns, and I am an eco (performance) artist! Growing up in NYC I could see the East River from my room, and the Central Park Reservoir from the roof. While I always dreamed of the desert my mind was always thinking about water

Inspired by my years working at a farmers market growing up, I went to Hampshire College where I studied Environmental Science and Middle-Eastern studies. I continued dance and other art mediums too. It was there I realized water is quite literally the epicenter of life, and learned how water can be framed for better AND for worse, as a national security issue, the crux of the climate conflict nexus, when really we mean.. water is a human right. We need water.

Since graduating, I have worked in the energy and water management private sector, co founded an experimental movement series, and have begun performative lecturing. From this class I hope to learn about others’ journey in sustainability sectors, how to better my research practices, and learn more about the process of writing and applying for grants!
