  • Yes Ma'am
  • We will now Ma'am!
  • Good day, class! Today, we are going to talk about the Non-Mendelian Inheritance.
  • I already group you into two, and each of you had already the assigned topic. Now, let's proceed.
  • The second one is the Codominance. Both alleles are expressed in the offspring. If you cross a red flower and white flower, the offspring will be flowers with red and white patches on them. Both parents phenotypes are shown together on the offspring.
  • As an example for Codominance, we have the AB blood type. If a person with A type blood and a person with B type blood have a child, that child could have type AB blood where both where both phenotypes are fully expressed.
  • Good day! We are the first group and we are going to discuss Incomplete Dominance, Codominance, Multiple Alleles and Polygenic Inheritance
  • INCOMPLETE DOMINANCE, and CODOMINANCE
  • As an example for Incomplete Dominance, when you cross a white flower and red flower, all their offspring will be pink flowers, a completely new phenotype. The two parent phenotypes are blended together into a new phenotype. You cannot see either of the parents phenotypes which are white or red in the offspring.
  • Let's begin first with Incomplete Dominance. In Incomplete dominance, there is a blending of the two alleles resulting in a third phenotype which is a mixture of both alleles. The phenotypes produced does not look like either of the parents.
  • As per the Polygenic Inheritance, When two or more genes control the same trait, it is known as polygenic inheritance. Genes are frequently large in number but little in effect.
  • As an example of Polygenic inheritance, we have human height, weight, and skin color.
  • That is all for our groups presentation for today. We hope you've learned a lot from us! Thank you!
  • MULTIPLE ALLELES, AND POLYGENIC INHERITANCE
  • We will now proceed with Multiple Alleles. When a trait is controlled by more than two alleles, multiple alleles is described, and even if a trait is controlled by more than two alleles, each offspring only inherits two.
  • As an example of Multiple Alleles, we have the ABO blood system.
  • And for the Sex Linked Inheritance example hemophilia, red-green color blindness, congenital night blindness,
  • The next one is the Sex Linked Inheritance. Sex linked occurs in which a gene is located on a sex chromosome. These traits are influenced by genes on the X chromosome in humans because the X chromosome is larger and contains more genes than the Y chromosome.
  • LETHAL ALLELES, AND SEX LINKED INHERITANCE
  • Good day! We are the second reporters for today. We will discuss about Lethal Alleles, Sex Linked, Sex Influence, and Sex Limited Inheritance.
  • For the lethal allele example, we have the human diseases caused by recessive lethal alleles which includes the cystic fibrosis, sickle-cell anemia, and achondroplasia
  • To begin with, we have here Lethal Alleles. These are alleles that can cause the death of the organism that caries them. They are usually a result of mutations in genes that are essential for growth or development. It may be recessive, dominant or conditional depending on the gene or genes involved.
  • For the last topic, we have Sex Limited Inheritance. Genes on autosomes determine sex-limited traits, which are expressed or visible only in one sex. They are responsible for sexual dimorphism.
  • And for the Sex Limited Inheritance example, we have here lactation, or milk production. Although the genes for producing milk are carried by both males and females, only lactating females express these genes. Also only males can have prostate cancer and only females can have ovarian cancer, although both can carry the genes for these conditions.
  • SEX-INFLUENCED AND SEX LIMITED INHERITANCE
  • That is all for the presentation of Group 2. We hope we added additional knowledge to your minds. Thank you!
  • We'll move on to Sex Influenced Inheritance now. Sex-influenced traits are autosomal traits that do not show distinctive expression between women and men and influenced by sex.
  • As an example for Sex Influenced Inheritance, we have soft facial hair in females vs coarse facial hairs in males.
  • Thank you for the nice feedback Ma'am
  • Thank you, Ma'am! Have a great day
  • Job well done, class! I am impressed with your reporting. Always continue the good work!!
  • I hope that you learned a very useful information regarding the Non-Mendelian Inheritance.
  • You can all go now. Class dismissed.
