- Once upon a time, my grandftaher lived in a place called the Forest of Sully.
- He lived very happy in the forest, until one time, he was catched by an eagle. His gray color didn't help him to camouflage.
- For this, our population started to change. This change is called natural selection, this process consists on the adaptation of our population to our environment, this helps us survive.
- Where is my food, there are no birds!
- This adaptation consisted in a mutation of our genes. Our genotype changed, making our phenotype different, the next generations where no more gray, now we are green. Due to this change we can camouflage.
- After many generations of green birds, my cousin decided to change of populatio our population charged the gene of green feathers, for this he transmited this gene to the other population. This is called gene flow.
- Another mehanism of evolution is gene drift. This mechanism consists on the heritage of genes. For example, my father is carrier of two alleles of green feathers while my mother has one allele of green feathers, and one of white feathers. Due to genetic drift, the allele of white feathers was lost in our population since my mother transmited to me the gene of green feathers.
- This is a clear example of Microevolution. This changes in our specie in short periods of time consisted in a microevolution while the evolution of humans, for example, can be consider Macroevolution, due to the big changes in long periods of time.
