- A long, long time ago, there was a beautiful woman by the name of Daphne. Everyone in her town was captivated by her. She had eyes for no one, but her husband, Tobias.They lived in a tiny house on the edge of town.
- Poseidon was a god of the sky, like his brother Zeus. One day, he got bored in Mount Olympus and found a small town in Greece to visit. While he was out in the town, he saw the most beautiful woman he ever laid eyes on. He wanted to buy her something to win her affections. He found the most expensive and beautiful necklace he could find.
- I'm sorry ,I'm married.
- He came back the next day and found a house he thought was hers. He knocked on the door, and a buff, scraggly man, who looked like he had just been working in a field, opened it.“Oh, this must be the wrong house,” Poseidon replied. He saw the woman poke her head out the door frame. “Could I have a word with her, alone?” The man went back into the house, and it was just them. “I have this necklace for you.” “Oh, I’m flattered, but I have a husband, Tobias. I’m so sorry. Please find someone else or return the necklace. I cannot accept it.”
- Poseidon backed away and left. He returned to Mount Olympus and plotted to take her and force her to wed him. This plan took several weeks of plotting. The day had come for him to take her. He went back to the small town and to her house. He knocked on the door and heard a deep voice yell out to him, “Daphne doesn’t want to see you. Leave.” Poseidon sent a huge gust of wind that swung open the door. He storms in and found her in a bedroom and tried to grab her. Tobias threw a punch and Poseidon dodged it. He grabs a sharp object and stabs Tobias right in the heart.Poseidon leaves to go back to Mount Olympus.
- Daphne dragged Tobias’s body out to a sandy area. She sobbed and screamed for help. She was surrounded by her own tears that had formed an ocean. Daphne eventually died of heartbreak after crying for months on end. Zeus saw this and was horrified by Poseidon’s actions.
- Zeus banished Poseidon from Mount Olympus and forced him to live in the mess he created. He curses him to be the god of the ocean, so he can feel guilt for his actions every day.
