- John Brown's friend was killed in 1837 while helping slaves. He vowed to help end all slavery.

- After his friends death, John Brown decided to serve as a conductor for the underground railroad.

- After the KNA act was passed, John Brown killed 5 of his Pro-slave neighbors after a group of pro slavers had attacked his town.

- On October 16th, 1859, John held 60 men hostage and killed 4 men in an effort to raid the Harpers Ferry armory. He ended up getting arrested and losing 10 of his men (two of which were his kids).

- John Brown was charged with murder and treason. He was ordered to be hanged and on December 2nd, 1859, they did just that.
