Bernadine Coles Gines earned a MBA from New York University in 1947 and became the first black female CPA in New York in 1954.
Jesse Blayton
Professor Jesse Blayton was known as the Dean of Negro accountants. in the 1960s his atlanta-based firm provided services to the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. and to the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
Mary Washington
Mary T. Washington was the founder of Washington, Pittman, and Mckeever LLC, one of the largest black owned CPA firms in the country. Many aspiring CPAs moved to Chicago to work for her.
Dr.Larzette Hale & Milton Wilson
Dr. Larzette Hale became the first African American female to earn a Ph.D in 1955 at University of Wisconsin. Dr.Milton Wilson led Texas Southern University and Howard University to become the first two black colleges to earn AACSB accreditation.
Summary
All of these wonderful CPAs have made a big impact on a lot of black lives. The one that stood out to me the most is Jesse Blayton. Jesse provided services to one of the most important men that ever walked this earth.
