- I am not greedy because I am enjoying my wealth, I should be able to spend on myself without feeling guilt

- Someone who takes away what belongs to other
- Who is a man of greed? Who is a cheater?
- I am simply buying my own stuff, with my own money, I am not taking anything from anyone
- St. Basil is questioning the Rich American man and trying to educate him and he instantly gets offended.

- Where have the things you now possess come from?
- Is this greed? Do you agree with St. Basil?

- The bread which you hold back belongs to the hungry... the footwear mouldering in your closet belongs to those without shoes
- I understand what you are saying, people come from different situations
- St. Basil doesn't literally mean taking it away, he means more not giving enough. The Rich man does not feel he is taking anything from anyone.

- Thus, however many are those whom you could have provided for, so many are those whom you wrong
- St. Basil is trying to explain how not giving to those in need is a sin.
- When someone fails to clothe the naked, while able to do so, is such a man deserving of any other appellation?
- They come from myself, I have enough money to buy how I please

- I came from poverty myself but I do not feel like I owe anyone anything

- I feel as if I am just enjoying my wealth and what I worked for, not being selfish.
