- In 1934, the dust storms appeared. These storms caused crops and houses to be fill with dust and this ruined them. Michael's house was ruined which he was forced ot move iknto a more rural area which is more enclosed and far away from open fields which is where the dust comes from.
- Back in the Great Depression, families lost their crops/land. Some families even lost their homes. In Michael's case, he lost his house due to the dust storms. Michael was forced to migrate to an urban area. Since he lived in California, he moved to LA. Back then, LA wasn't as expensive as it is now.
- Back in 1931, the food riots and bank collapses started to appear. Michael has been effected by this because he was in a grocery store when a riot appeared and now he ended up getting injured. People that were defending their stores back then got injured because there was force used to get these items.
- When the stock market crashed, Michael was greatly affected. He lost a ton of money because he invested in all the wrong things. The great depression stock crash caused Michael to become very poor. Michael wasn't able to pay the hospital bill so he was refused service.
- FDR created beneficial programs for the people of America. This helped with financial aid which Michael needed very much. Due to the aid that the New Deal gave him he was able to pay for his hospital bills and he got treated.
- 1939. At this point Michaelhas grown up to be 24 years old. During this time, World War II has just begun. This causes Michael to be drafted into the war because he is of age now. A draft was required for this war due to the size of it and the amount of people. Michael survived the depression but now he is being put into more obstacles in his life.
