Text z Príbehu

  • The Women's Rights movement from 1830-1870
  • I'm Elizabeth Cady Stanton and I organized the Seneca Falls Convention. This I held this meeting to get people together to talk about women's rights. Because women had little rights. Before the reform women could not vote, they could not have all the same jobs men had, they did not have the same pay as men, they could not get the same education as men, a women could not own anything after she got married it all went to her husband, and if they divorced a women could not have any rights to her children.
  • These people are here at the convention in support of women's rights but, I cannot let all the credits go to myself. My friend Lucretia Mott whom i met at an anti-slavery convention also helped with organizing this historic event. At this meeting we all made the Declaration of Sentiments which was based off of the Declaration of Independance. This Document stated that all men and women were created equal and that we all had the same basic rights.
  • At the Seneca Falls convention women and men called for women’s equality, their right to vote, run for office, and speak publicly. At the meeting they made the Declaration of Sentiments which was modeled after the Declaration of Independence. This convention led to many other national conventions helping spread awareness and add both female and male supporters to the cause Others opened places where women could get higher education. This helped break the barrier for education for women and helped other women to do the same.
