- The Second Nun's Tale is the 13th Story in the Canterbury Tales
- Climax
- Cecilia was a woman who devoted her life to the virgin Mary, and once she was betrothed to a man named Valerian her faith didn't change. She vowed to stay a virgin forever and told her husband on their wedding night that if anyone were to violate her, her guardian angel would slay them.
- Falling Action
- In order to see the angel, Valerian was baptized by Pope Urban. When he was sent home he spoke with the angel, asking them to purify his brother Tiburce. Tiburce was baptized and the three of them lived in peace.
- Resolution/Lesson
- Oneday they were found by Roman sergents who brought them to Almachius, the perfect. He disapproved of their faith and forced them to make a sacrifice to the Roman god Jupiter or be killed.
- All three were executed by the perfects officers, Valerian and Tiburce refused to make a sacrifice and died first. Cecelia's faith is questioned in tria and when she mocks Almachius and his beliefs, she is also sentenced to death.
- Cecilia and the other saints all buried beneath the church at night by Pope Urban. He then cinsecrates the church, worshipped to this day as the Church of St. Cecilia
