  • Hi, I'm Nate. I'm 15. I have ADD and a processing disorder. I struggle to articulate my thoughts and emotions. Reading and writing are hard, but I can build or fix anything and often get lost in my own creations.
  • Rachel is a mom & teacher learning about 2x exceptional students in her GT class. Interesting because she has a son she is looking at with new eyes,
  • Nate was correctly identified as LD when he was in elementary school. But his other gifted ability is not really known or serviced in school. This is not unusual nationwide.
  • Like other 2x exceptional kids I've developed other skills to compensate for what is hard for me. My out-of-the box thinking and problem solving are outstanding but I struggle writing a sentence. I can concentrate for hours building a computer from scratch, but can't focus on reading a book.
  • What can educators do? We can work harder to identify these students, provide services and forge new paths to help them and provide what they need. We need advanced training with accommodations & modifications. This will take schools, districts, teachers and parents working together, but our kids are worth it!
