Charlie Gordon is a 32-year old man who has an IQ of 68, meaning he has a mild mental disability. He goes to a school for adults with mental disabilities, and his class is taught by Ms. Kinnian. Ms. Kinnian recommends Charlie to participate in a brain surgery to make him smarter. 
Climax
Dr. Strauss and Dr. Nemur are two doctors which are facilitating the brain surgery, which in theory should increase Charlie's IQ by triple his original IQ. Strauus and Nemur interact with Charlie and run a few tests with him, and then preform the surgery on him, which they said was successful. 
Falling Action

Charlie's IQ enhancing has gone well, however it might have gone too far. He has become so smart that he can no longer properly socially interact with anyone, and his co-workers all signed a petition (besides one) to get him fired, as they didn't feel comfortable with the new him.
Resolution
Algernon, the test mouse who got the same surgery as Charlie, mentally regressed and died. Charlie bonded with Algernon, so he was heartbroken to see him go, but additionally, it made Charlie restless. After all, if it happened to Algernon, he will most likely mentally regress too. So, he lets himself rest as he buries Algernon.
Charlie's mental deterioration has begun, and he's past the point of sadness and is breaching into the point of anger and depression. He has locked himself inside his house, to Dr. Strauss's dismay as he tried to visit. Charlie tries to read a book he owned, but couldn't, and angrily tossed the book away. 
Charlie's mental regression is in it's final stages, or may even be completed. Regardless, he decides to leave town and go somewhere else where no one knew smart Charlie, for new beginnings. He takes all his stuff with him, in hopes he can learn himself and maybe retain some of his former knowledge. In the end, he still leaves flowers for Algernon on his grave.
