- Over 300 000 pesants, ordinary people and even some skilled soldiers attended this crusade in 1096, hence the name ''people's crusade" was born, with Peter the Hermit in charge.

- So they began pillaging small christian and even jewish villages, where they killed 5 000 people and stole the survivors' money.
- However, they were unprepared and they all got diseased
- The people's crusade pillaged in Hungary. However, their behavour was so bad that they came face to face with Hungarian soldiers. After all this, their numbers lowered to just 100 000.
- When the people's crusade finally reached the holy land, the army was immediately masacered by the saljek army. Peter the Hermit ran away from battle.
