- Clemens is refurbishing his new shop and is helped by lots of the locals. They fear Eutychus but they like Clemens because he is friendly and often helps them too

- Clemens's shop is near the temple of Isis, and he goes there often. Eventually he becomes a follower of Isis.
- Clemens also makes friends with the cat that lives in the temple as he often feeds it. Slowly, the shopkeepers begin to have faith in Clemens and decide not to pay Eutychus anymore for protection of their shop. Eutychus thinks Clemens is causing too much trouble.
- One day as he was returning from the temple Clemens finds out that his shop is on fire and that Eutychus's thugs have broke it apart. Eutychus gets angry when Clemens stands up to him.
- As the other shopkeepers hide and the thugs advance on Clemens the sacred cat from the temple appears and jumps on Clemens's arm. The thugs bow down before him because the cat is sacred.
- Eutychus is now even angrier, but the cat then jumps onto him and scratches him. At which point Clemens advises him and his thugs to run away. From that day on they never bothered the shopkeepers again!
