- In June 1776 the Continental Progress finally decided to write The Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson was who wrote it and included some crimes that the king commited and slave trade should end, either of this opinions went into the real document. Now, all states were indipendent.
- Battle on Dec. 25th.
- Lets do a surprise attack!!
- British Army : W: solddiers and military supplies had to be shipped across the Atlantic Ocean. Soilders were only trained to fight in open battle fields. Uniforms included red coats, wich made them easy targets. Many British citizennts didn't support the war because it raised taxes. S: Each soilder carried a gun called a musket tip that had a sharp blade. British soilders were helped by Loyalists.

- W:genaral washington never hads more than 19,000 soilders at any timew in the war.Soilders singed up for six months.Shoes were a constant problem.Some Americans hid supplies or sold food to bthe army at high prices. S:patriots faought to protect their homnes, families,and a new nation.Some patriots attacked by surprise.They useed long rifles, wich were more accurate than musketS.Patriot citizens supportes the army by making musket balls or blankets.Farmers gave food to soilders.
- Washington had the idea of a surprise attack on the Hessian soilders in Trenton, New Jerswey onb Dec. 25th.They crossed the Delaware river from Pennsilvania to New Jersey but it was all conered in ice!!!At 4 a.m. they finally reahced the shore and attacked.The plan worked, the Hessians quickly surrendered.Washington only lost to men on the battle, they took away food weapons, and shoes.The most important thing was that theyu had hope to win the war.
- General John Burgoyne led a thousand soilders from Canada to New York, he expected another British force coming north from the southern colonies, he wanted to push the American troops, like a sanwich.The first part of his plan worked but then British supply got stuck in mud, the Americans had time to prepare for the battle.Finally British troops got to Saratoga on September 16.3 days after the 2 armies faught.The British had no cahnce to win.10 days afetr they surrendered.This braought more countries to become allies with the United States.
