- Mrs. White opened the door to quite a surprise. There was a young boy, but it was not Herbert. Mr. White slowly stood up and asked, "Who are you?"
- The boy came inside and said hello. Instead of treating Mrs. and Mr. White like strangers, he walked to the main living area and acted like he knew them his whole life. He gave them a big hug.
- Still confused, Mrs. and Mr. White sat down with the boy. The youngster explained hat he was their child from long ago when Mrs. White had a miscarriage.
- Obviously they didn't want to send away their son who finally gets the chance to live the life that was meant for him, but Mrs. White still wanted Herbert. She handed the monkey's paw to her husband and said, "Please ask for our son Herbert to come back to us as he was before he passed away, normal and healthy."
- Mr. White obeyed his wife and said the wish aloud. The young boy stood by his parents and held their hands. He felt bad that his parents didn't get what they asked for and got him instead. The White's explained that they never thought about the fact they could wish such things, but they were grateful it happened.
- After moments of silence, there was a faint voice heard upstairs. The three of them ran to the sound. There he was. Herbert was alive and healthy. The familiy was reunited and couldn't have been happier.
