QUOTE from ANNE OF GREEN GABLES by L.M. Montgomery
As Anne is about to leave for Queen's Academy, she expresses her love and appreciation to Marilla and Matthew and tells them that no matter how grown up she gets, she will always be their "little Anne". The novel focuses on Anne's journey from being an orphan with no family or stability to being a young lady setting off into the world with the love and support of Matthew and Marilla. Anne, too, is a great source of comfort and joy for Matthew and Marilla. The poignant scene highlights how much they've grown to love Anne despite Marilla's initial misgivings.
“I’m not a bit changed . . .The real me . . . is just the same. It won’t make a bit of difference where I go or how much I change outwardly; at heart I shall always be your little Anne, who will love you and Matthew and dear Green Gables more and better every day of her life.”
