Name Crossed Off the List
My name was crossed off the list!
The Infirmary
Returning to Plaszow
We are being sent away! My father and my brother and I!
When Oskar Schindler added 30 more names to his workforce, Leon's was on the list. When he learned that his name had been crossed off, he approached the German officer in charge of the transfer. He was put back on the transfer list and saved his own life.
It was pure luck and timing that saved Leon from being shot to death by Amon Goeth. Moments after Leon had left, Goeth entered the infirmary and shot all of the patients.
When Leon, his brother, and his father were put on the wrong list to be sent back to Plaszow instead of to Schindler's camp, he saw Schindler and called out to him, saving their lives.
