This tree is about to eat! Let's take a look at how photosynthesis is made for food.
Carbon dioxide enters the leaf first.
Water is absorbed into the leaf.
Photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplast which only plant cells have. Carbon dioxide and water are both reactants for photosynthesis.
Light hits the pigment in the membrane of a thylakoid, splitting the water into oxygen.
Light reactions are split into two types , there is light independent (Calvin cycle) and light dependent. This step is light dependent.
And that is the process of photosynthesis!
The Calvin Cycle ( light independent) uses the carbon dioxide that has been collected to help produce glucose. ATP and NADP+ give the energy for the reactions to occur.

In light dependent reactions light energy is used to convert ADP to ATP and NADP+ to NADPH.
The second of two major stages in photosynthesis (after the light reactions), involving CO2 fixation and reduction of the fixed carbon into carbohydrate.
