- The narrator tells us that Tereza will do anything for her lover even if it puts her at risk. On page 147 Kundera wrote, She was terribly upset about the idea of going. Her body was so weak that she could scarcely lift it off the bench. But she was constitutionally unable to disobey Tomas. CHR-1.B
- Tereza's mother sees no shame in being an open individual. She does not believe in modesty. On page 46 Kundera states, Teresa's mother blew her nose noisily, talked to people in public about her sex life, and enjoyed demonstrating her false teeth. Tereza's mother clearly has no filter. CHR-1.D
- Tereza thought that getting into a relationship with Tomas would relieve her from her mother. On page 48 Kundera stated, He called to her in a kind voice, and Tereza felt her soul rushing up to the surface through her blood vessels and pores to show itself him. Her mother has only taught her to see her body and not her soul. CHR-1.C
- I can tell that the character Sabrina does not like to be tied down and wants freedom. CHR-1
- Exactly, Kundare wrote, She had sensed an expanse of freedom before her, and the boundlessness of it excited her (p. 116). Sabrina finally has freedom from Franz. 1.A
- Sabrina deciding to not stay in a relationship with Franz proves that she desires freedom. CHR 1.A

- The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera
- This book takes place in Prague 1968. During this time many people were forced to be vulnerable. SET-1 , SET- 1.A
- During this time the Russian invasion was an invasion on citizens privacy. Kundera states, ,,,and even I find it difficult to explain what she had in mind when she compared a nude beach to the Russian invasion (p. 69). 2.A
- If Tomas never lost his job, then he wouldn't have seen his son again. There would be no way for Sabrina to know that Tereza and Tomas passed. 3.B, STR-1.A
- Each chapter in the book the author tells the story of a different character. He has done this to focus on the points in the characters' lives where they battled with lightness and weight. STR-1
