- God said they "must not eat the fruit from the tree". The serpent says God doesn't want them too, as their "eyes would be opened...and will be like God".

- God said "What is this you have done?"He punished the serpent with "cursed are you above all livestock", "you will eat dust" and banishment from Garden of Eden.
- God punished Eve and all women by "your pains in childbearing very severe", "your desire will be your husband and he will rule over you", took away eternal life and banished from the Garden of Eden.
- God punished Adam and all men with hard labour. "By the sweat of your brow, you will eat your food until you return to the ground" and "it will produce thorns and thistles". Adam was expelled from Eden.
