VISITING THE TOMB
THE OPENING OF THE TOMB
HIS BODY IS GONE
JESUS HAS RISEN
MEETING JESUS
TELLING HIS DISCIPLES
At dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and Mary went to look at the tomb. They brought spices with them so they could anoint Jesus in his shroud
There was a violent earthquake, and angels of the Lord came down from heaven. Going to the tomb, they rolled back the stone.
As the women entered the tomb, they saw the empty strips of linen lying there. The women were very confused and alarmed that Jesus's body wasn't there.
The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."
So the women hurried away from the tomb, filled with joy, and each ran to tell Jesus's disciples. Suddenly Jesus met Mary Magdalene. "Greetings," he said. She came to him, and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to her, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me."
Mary Magdalene remembered his words. When they both came back from the tomb and seeing Jesus, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. The women spoke of the angels and Jesus's resurrection.
"Do not be afraid. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."
