- Chapter 6 is when they moved into the pigeon coop became their new home. Yanek found the pigeon coop and thought about having his family move in there with him. He went back to his apartment and told his parents his mom disagreed and his father agreed. His mom finally agreed and they started to build and clean in the old pigeon coop.
- Yanek was taken back to go clean up the apartments so they would destroy them and turn them into something else. He found one of his neighbor's dead bodies while he went to go clean his apartment room. He also went up to go check in the pigeon coop where he and his family hid to see if anyone was still alive. He ended up finding the money his mother sewed into his jackets of theirs in case they were taken.
- Yanek was taken to a very big salt mine where they would be put to dig and mine salt and sometimes they were told to take them back and forth in the mud. They couldn't escape there was no point in trying to escape you would get lost in the salt mines from how big it is and have to live off of salt which you would end up dying. Yanek saw a lot of sculptures in the salt mines and was amazed at what was down there. After working in the salt mines for a while they were taken in cattle cars and they didn't know where they were going and people were saying they were going to turn into soap and some said they were taken to a gas chamber
