The Vietnam War was caused by a disagreement on who should own the land in Vietnam after World War Two. Leader Ho Chi Minh believed that it should become an independent nation, even though France owned it before World War Two. The area split into South and North Vietnam and fought with the other side until Northern Vietnam defeated Southern Vietnam. This caused Vietnam to become an independent country
