- I think some of the reasons the war of 1812 started were impressing sailors, and giving native americans guns to fight the U.S.
- Sea Battles
- They started to have more trouble with the Indians as more settlers made it to Ohio and the Mississippi valley. Two Shawnee Indians the chief and his brother started to fight back by, uniting the lots of the Indian tribes around the river into one big Indian nation. On November 7 1811 the U.S fought back and won then they noticed the Indains were using British weapons.
- The Battle of New Orleans
- they thought that it would be a good idea to try to get Canada but the British kept fleeing them out until Oliver Hazard Perry captured 6 British ships. Then they pushed upper Canada and won. But this did not last long when the British started to push them destroying lots of things.
- Results of the War
- The sea battle started on September 10 1813. This is when a U.S naval force captured a British fleet of six ships.
- New Orleans was defeated by genral Andrew Jackson and a army of 7,000 men of different colors and the British had 7,500 troops marching into battle. About 2,000 British soldiers died and only 70 americans died. This was the greatest victory of 1812 for the U.S but it was unnecessary.
- After the war both sides claimed victory but really neither of them won. The treaty of Ghent didn't solve any of the issues of the war but it did have important effects like, the war severely weakened Indian in the northwest territory,national pride in the united states, and the war had political effects.
