Clarisse and her mother are having a conversation about the subject, why books are banned and must they be burned? Clarisse's mother has already discussed about the topic yet Clarisse is still asking more questions, wondering more than one answer.

Montag and Clarisse are conversating as Clarisse rambles on other subjects. Clarisse then askes Montag if he was happy and that for the first time had made him think deeply, bothered by the fact he wasn't really happy.
Fifth scene

Clarisse is in a shock of fear as she sees the children paying in the school grounds murder each other. She is left out as the abnormal one seen by other kids.
Sixth scene
