- Derrick Rose was born October 4, 1988, and is an American professional basketball player of the NBA. He played one year of college basketball for the Memphis Tigers before being drafted first overall by his hometown Chicago Bulls in the 2008 NBA draft.
- In the first round of the 2012 NBA Playoffs against the Philadelphia 76ers, Rose tore his ACL in his left knee, from training too hard before playoffs. Rose required surgery and was subsequently sidelined for the entire 2012–13 season.
- This is an example of Overconformity because he thought that he had to train harder for the playoffs, to help his team win the whole thing, and his training too hard caused him to tear his ACL.
- After his ACL injury, Derrick Rose struggled to return and was very clearly not as good as he used to be. He cried when the Chicago Bulls traded him to the New York Knicks, later in 2016.
- In the end, Derrick Rose thought he had to train harder, so his team would have a better chance at winning the playoffs, and making it to the championship., and trained too hard in the process, and suffered a fatal injury because of it.
