- The French took control of the Ohio River so it could control the interirior of North America and the Fur-Trade empire and they made friensds with tribes like the Algonquian. The Iroquois Nation which was a Native American tribe didnt like them though so they fought over the fur trade. The British became intrested in the river so they went to it but the French had already claimed that area.
- We already claimed this river!
- George Washington who was the Liutentant Colonel for the militia in the British colony of Virginia built Fort Necessity 40 miles away from the Ohio River, while Fort Duquesne was a French fort built right near the River.
- The Albany Conference was a meeting of 7 of the 13 British colonies that's purpose was to try to secure the support and cooperation of the Iroquois in fighting the French, and to form a colonial alliance based on a design by Benjamin Franklin called the The Albany Plan of Union. He also made the first political cartoon : Join or Die.

- General Edward Braddock was a commander of the British forces in North America. He selected George Washinton as his aide but died while fighting the French and Native Americans at Fort Duquesne.
- In Western Pennsylvania, the Lenne-Lenapi people started to attack British settlers. It began what was known as the French and Indian war which was also known as the Seven Year War was a war that lasted seven years between the British and the French.
- William Pitt became secretary of state and leader of the British House of Commons in 1757. He turned the tides of the war and the French were soon outnumbered and were going to lose. The French surrender. The French and Indian War officially ended with the Treat of Paris in February 1763 after Great Britain had defeated France.
