- Hi! Today I’m going to show you the universe and its characteristics
- There are million and millions of stars in our galaxy. You wouldn’t believe it but our galaxy is 100,000 light years long
- A light year is 9.7 trillion km
- A star is a ball of gas…
- The sun is a star, not a planet…
- There are 3 types of galaxies, spiral, elliptical and irregular
- There are 8 planets in our solar system. They all orbit the sun.
- That’s true!
- The moon always seems like it’s glowing isn’t it? But the moon doesn’t produce its own light, it only reflects sunlight.
- The largest planet in our solar system is Jupiter. It’s so large that 1,321 earths could fit inside Jupiter.
- The first 4 planets in the solar system are called inner planets. The last 4 are called outer planets. The inner planets are usually solid and made of rock. The outer planets are usually made of gas.
