- How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
- This woman is trying to count how many ways she loves someone. This line is important because it's telling the reader what they are about to read. The theme is blatantly in the fist phrase. The theme for this poem is a list of things that she loves about her partner. The line makes the reader also thing about what the rest of the poem will be like.
- I love thee to the depth and breadth and height, My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight, For the ends of being and ideal grace, I love thee to the level of every day;s, Most quiet need by sun and candle-light.
- This is how the theme beings to bloom. She begins to say hoe much she loves her spouse. This is important cause this is where the poem really comes into place. She is saying she loves her partner with everything she has in her. Dhe's saying she loves him so much that she loves him to the end of every day. This is important because it shows her depth she has for him.
- Assonance is the literary poetic device used. in this poem it is used a couple of times. It helps the poem really come alive in the descriptions. It also helps the reader understand what's going on. It kind of slips off the tongue . It is any easy way to understand thee writing.
- From the beginning to the middle of the poem she was talking about her love for her husband. Then in the middle, her perspective started to change. She was professing her love for him in the beginning going on and on. Then she becomes more bold more strong in her words. She starts talking about her childhood and starts to talk about how if her husband dies she will still love him. That her feelings are so strong for her husband that even when he dies she will still only love him. She loves him with loved she has even seemed to lose. She loves him through all of her breath, through the smiles, the tears, and all of her life. Even after her death, she will love him. Nothing will tear her love away from her husband through the good and bad. For example, the poem, states "I shall but love thee better after death."

- The turn is made here. She starts to go deeper into what her love really meant. When she was a child growing up as a christian, she was a huge believer she believed in her husband. She believes in him and there's nothing anyone could do or say to changer her mind.
- "I love thee with a love I seeme to lose, With my lose saints, I love thee with the breath, Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death."
- This shows how much she loves her husband. So much so nothing sets her aside no even through the pain and the smiles. Se loved her husband with everything in her, Even after death nothing will ever will ever get her to stop loving her husband. The theme of this poem is to just show how much love there is. Love is strong and beautiful and nothing can ever change that between two people who are madly in love.
