- Castle Cranshaw (Ghost) is the main character in this book. He has severe trauma because of his father attacking him and his mom. Ghost uses running as a way to relieve some of the flashbacks/memories. Basically this book about overcoming one's fears.
- The conflict the main character, Ghost, has to face in this story is getting over the fact his father attacked him and his mom. One night after Ghost's dad had a little bit to much to drink, he flipped out and scared Ghost and his mom out of the house while shooting at them with a gun. After this all happened Ghost's life got much more troublesome and hard for both him and his mom. (pretend the dad is not wearing a suit, all the other dad looking characters don't look right. (NOT in an offensive way.) Also had to make it school friendly so that's why there is a water gun instead of a real gun.
- The rising actions in this story are kind of confusing because there's both good and bad moments. The one demonstrated in the picture is obviously a bad moment because Ghost is absolutely annihilating Brandon Simmons, his worst enemy, with a lunch tray. Another part of the rising action is Ghost shoplifting a pair of expensive shoes and not getting caught. The last part of the rising I will list is when Ghost shares his secret with the kids on his track team. Telling something like that to kids is such a brave thing to do, especially when it has had such an impact on your life.
- The climax of this story was when Ghost stole a pair of shoes from a store. He did this because he was getting bullied for having high tops and then cutting the top part of them off. He also desperately needed a pair of running shoes because high tops are obviously not a shoe for running in.
- The falling action in this story comes shortly after Ghost stealing the shoes. Jersey day is the day where Ghost is confronted about stealing the shoes by his coach. Coach didn't give him a jersey and told Ghost he was going to tell his mom. After a long time of Ghost trying to convince coach to not, he finally gave in after telling Ghost his child hood. Coach also lived in Glass Manor and his father was a drug addict. After hearing Coach's traumatic story, Ghost felt bad and agreed to apologize to the store clerk.
- Lastly is the resolution. The resolution in this story is when Ghost gets to compete in the race. Ghost was almost kicked off the team because of what he did but convinced coach that he will never do such a thing ever again. Ghost got his mom, aunt, and kid cousin to come watch. His mom was really supportive and just wanted Ghost to have fun and complete the race. After all the things Ghost and his family have been through, I think they have done a good job of supporting each other and learning to move on in a healthy, positive way!
