- well how do the rocks even break to turn into the soil?
- weather like rain freezing rain and super hot days will make the rock brittle and very easy to break.
- how can hot and cold weather have the same impact on the rocks.
- because the rain freezes and expands making cracks in the rock then the hot weather comes and over time makes the rocks very brittle just the process of hot to cold and drying the rocks will make them easier to break.
- woah i didnt know that. how long does it take for rocks to break up into soil?
- usually it can take hundreds to thousands of years to break down into soil.
- thats a long time just to make something to grow plants in.
- thats not the only way to make soil its just been the main way most of it was made.
