Hello! My name is Marie Tharp. I am an American geologist and oceanographic cartographer.
I went to college at the University of Michigan where I got my master’s degree, then I landed a position at Columbia University in 1947, when I worked as an assistant to Bruce Heezen.
My father worked for the department of agriculture, so from a young age I would join him on work trips and travel around the country collecting samples for soil, I loved watching this and developed an interest.

Marie's profiles revealed the existence of complex geography of crevices. She realized she knew a lot and decided to write books (The Floors Of The Oceans, V1: The North Atlantic). She was also recognized for this, for which she won the Hubbard Medal
