- Everyone listen up! The Law of April 6, 1830 states that, "No slaves will be imported from US, all grants that are unfulfilled by empresarios will be canceled, and immigration from Us to Texas is now outlawed.

- The Law of April 6, 1830 was designed to stop the flood of immi-gration from the United States to Texas, which came as a result ofthe warning Mier y Terán Report.

- The law forbade the further introduction of slaves into Mexico,and intended to suspend existing empresario contracts. The most objectionable from the Texan viewpoint, which was notincluded in the Mier y Terán Report, was to prohibit immigrationfrom the United States.

- They explained that their attack against the fort at Anahuac wasnot Anglos attacking a Mexican garrison,but Federalist sympa-thizers opposing a Centralist government as part of the civil warthat had been in progress for two years between the Centralistadministration of Anastasio Bustamante and those wanting toreturn to the Constitution of 1824.
