- IFC testing team brainstorming on ways to make upcoming controls testing exercise more effective
- Let’s think of the bottlenecks we encounter during IFC testing and brainstorm on how we can make the process more efficient and streamlined!
- Challenge : Dependency on controls owners for obtaining population for testing impacting testing timelineChallenge : Lack of knowledge and expertise in SAP data hence unable to find and extract data on their own.
- Let’s check with the Central Analytics COE team. They have the expertise and knowledge in SAP.
- We should find a way to extract the data ourselves wherever possible, this way we can decrease dependency on the client side and improve the overall efficiency.
- But most of their data is on SAP and we do not have any prior experience on how to navigate through SAP and find the correct data.

- Our testing timeline is highly dependent on control owners at the client side. Unless they share the population with us, we cannot begin the controls testing.
- Testing team and analytics team connect with the process owners to validate the SAP transaction codes and extraction parameters and prepare a master file containing all details required to extract population from SAP. They concluded that for 120 controls data can be extracted by analytics team on their own, reducing the dependency on process owners by ~42%
- The Testing team and the Central Analytics team discuss the challenges
- As part of this exercise we test more than 250 controls. To make the testing smoother and efficient, we need your assistance in extracting population and evidence from SAP. Please let us know what your requirements are to achieve this.

- Please share with us the RCM (risk and controls matrix ) along with the data requirement against each control. We will also need 2 laptops to access client’s network and SAP production server.
- Challenge1: Technical issues related to SAP authorizationsencountered during the exercise were resolved by liaising with SAP team fromthe client side.2; Data size was huge, therefore analyticsteam divided the data into multiple chunks based on time period or entities.
- When IFC testing begins, Analytics team extracted the population for the testing.
