Jane! Will you go on a walk with me? I have something I want to talk to you about!
Jane and Mr. Rochester's Conversation
Would you like to be a governess in Ireland? Also, I am to be married to Blanche Ingram.
I would not like to leave Thornfield. And I did not realize you and Miss Ingram were to be wed...
Jane will you marry me? I love you, not Blanche, and I want to marry you, sincerely.
Mr. Rochester, I love you! I will marry you, as long as this is not a joke.
As Mr. Rochester encounters Jane outside, he suggests that they go on a stroll.
As they sit under a chestnut tree, Mr. Rochester tells Jane about an opportunity for her in Ireland. She could be a governess for a family, but Jane does not want to leave Thornfield. Mr. Rochester tells Jane that he and Miss Ingram are to be married, which distresses Jane even more.
After Mr. Rochester tells Jane of his wedding plans, Jane admits that she is in love with him! Shortly after, Mr. Rochester also reveals his love for Jane and asks her to marry him. After talking about their intentions for one another, they both agree to be married.
