- You need to be a teacher, just like your mom.
- You are going to be a great teacher, just like your mom.
- Well, this is the story of how I decided that I wanted to be a teacher. But for that we need to go back a few years to the moment I’ll never forget.
- Everything started in my Junior year of high school. My school was so focused on helping us decide our future that they made us take a career guidance class that would hopefully help us discover our passion and future major for college. But as time passed, I realized that my passions were everywhere. Which led me to a variety of different careers that had nothing in common. The class was not that useful anymore, it was stressful for me because I listened to my friends excited because they already knew what they wanted to do for the rest of their life.
- Growing up with my mom working as a teacher, everyone around me expected me to be a teacher like my mom. But the more I listened to those kinds of comments, the less I wanted that job. I think I didn't want to be a teacher because everyone was telling me to be, so I started avoiding that path.
- Just like every day after school, I went to my hometown´s dance studio to teach ballet to little girls looking to have a fun day. As I walked through the door of the reception, just like normal I heard girls excited, nervous, and even crying. So, before heading to the ballet classroom I created excitement in the girls and invited them to follow me.
- As the class went by, the girls were learning and having fun at the same time. But it was the moment when I saw one of the student´s reaction when she learned to do a ballet step correctly. At that moment I felt joy inside me and made me realize something...
- My future career was in front of me all this time. By being a teacher, I was able to use all my passions in a single vocation, and most importantly I was able to create an impact in the lives of many children. After that day, I was on the look for opportunities to teach in my community, and start doing what I love.
