Text z Príbehu

  • My favorite text was Warriors Don't Cry and the most significant thing to me was the central idea/ theme. The book was about 9 black students who got accepted into an integration program and they had to keep fighting no matter what. One of the lessons is to always fight for what you believe to be right. In the story all the little rock nine are bullied and treated cruelly, BUT they all chose to still stay and fight for integration. Another theme is always be accepting. Melba just wants all people to be treated equal and one of her main reasons to keep attending the school was for the future of equality in generations to come.
  • The soldier represents a warrior because soldiers fight for what they believe in. They are similar to melba because she had to fight against racism and inequality. The soldier is also ready to give his life up for his country. Melba put her life in danger for integration. While she was attending the school there were a lot of times where she could have gotten seriously injured or killed. Melba learned to push through it though like a soldier
  • The racism/inequality represents what Melba and the other 9 have to go through throughout the whole book. It's also what the whole book revolves around and how they fight it. Racism was a very big problem during Melba's time. It was very common and considered fair. Segregation was another issue that happened to Melba and she was fighting it. Her whole life in the book had racism in it.
  • The boy and girl holding hands is acceptance. The whole book was about them fighting for integration and it teaches you to be accepting of others no matter what. In the text, there was barely any acceptance. None of the people at the school (except a select few) wanted integration. Throughout the book the only thing that kept Melba going was that if she succeeds in the integration Black kids will be able to get a better education and so will she. At the school she makes a white friend boy named Link (he's the one holding Melba's hand) he accepts Melba for who she truly is and helps her out. Melba wanted equality for all, but first there must be acceptance for all.
