- Ford theater(April 15th 1865)
- It pains me to say, but earlier today President Abraham Lincoln was shot and killed while watching a play at Fords Theater.
- Take that! Team Andrew Johnson for the win!
- For those of you who don't know anything about the Reconstruction after the Civil war. There were three main reconstruction plans that were proposed with varying levels of severity.
- Congressional Reconstruction Plan
- Lincoln Reconstruction Plan
- Johnson Reconstruction Plan
- A Couple of months before...(January 31st 1865)
- I hereby officially pass the 13th amendment and it is now against the law to have slaves
- Present day

- Five months later(South Carolina 1865)
- Due to the chaos caused by the introduction of the 13th amendment we are now officially passing the black codes
- Due to the introduction of the black codes congress implemented the freedmen's bureau to help the millions of slaves who struggled to find their feet after the civil war
- Over the next four years congress attempted to give more rights to African Americans. With the failed Civil rights act of 1866 congress implemented two new amendments (14 and 15) to give more rights to African Americans
- Due to the economy struggling due to the effects of the civil war most plantation owners began sharecropping as a way to get help on the farms with having to pay as little as possible.
