- Academic Integrity Scenario
- Your ILA teacher assigns your class 10 questions to answer individually before class tomorrow. Tommy and Chucky decided to each do 5 questions and then swap answers that evening after they finish.
- Hey Chucky, I'll do the 1st 5 questions of the test. You can do the 2nd 5 questions!
- Great idea Tommy, lets do it!!!
- On the evening before the test, Chucky invites Tommy over to his house to do some of the 5 questions, then swap answers
- On the day of the test, Tommy and Chucky both turn in their tests. They then discover that they got a 50 on their tests. The teacher also calls Tommy and Chucky to her office, and gets mad at them for getting a low grade.
- Tommy and Chucky, you've got a 50 on your tests. I'm very disappointed in you both!!
- Both Tommy and Chucky are Cheating
- 1. Would you consider this Cheating? Why or why not? I would consider this cheating, because Tommy and Chucky both wanted to get a 100 on their tests. Even though the teacher made the students do the tests individually, Tommy and Chucky decided to cheat by getting help from each other
- 2. Who is cheating?
- If I saw/overheard students planning to work together on an individual test, I would tell the teacher immediately. If someone wanted to do an individual test with me, I would remind them that you have to the test by yourself.
- 4. How would you handle this situation, if you were placed in it?
