Mathilde wanted to go to the ball but then refuses to go without a nice and suitable dress, then her husband gave her money so she can buy a nice dress then didn't have jewelry and ended up borrowing a "Valuable" necklace. Then she lost the necklace.
Resolution
Really? The necklace wasn't that valuable as it seemed?
Mathilde loses the necklace, and then worked really hard to get money to buy a replacement necklace.
Mr. and Mrs. Loisel is relieved of their debt 10 years later and eventually replaced the necklace buy purchasing a replacement.
After replacing the necklace Mathilde tells Mrs.Frorestier that she had lost the original necklace, but Mrs.Forestier told Mr. and Mrs. Loisel that the necklace was really valuable as it seemed.
