- Acadian men were brought into the church to be told they need to sign the Oath of Allegiance to the British King, but they refused. The Acadians expected consequences.

- No, we won't sign! We shall remain neutral and continue our ways of life.

- Marie! Marie! They tried to make us sign another oath but I refused.
- I'm not sure, but expect anything at any time.

- Shortly after Barre, the Acadian father got home, British soldiers showed up and told this family they needed to pack everything they could carry and get on the ship.
- We're here to burn your house! Go get everything you need now!
- I think I got everything we'll need!
- The Acadians were escorted to ships that would take them away to other British colonies, so they said their goodbyes to other families.
- Get on this ship over here. Your house has been burned so there's no reason to come back.
- Many families were separated when put on ships. 5,000 Acadians died from sickness. This family was being departed to the Caribbean.
