Mare and Gisa dare not to utter a word because not following the rules or disobeying the silvers can get them in big trouble. You also shouldn't have to be silenced out because your blood color is different.
- Mare was visiting the city. While she was visiting the city, the reds were attacked by the silvers. People were bruised, bleeding, and hurt, no one could help them. This connects to the social issue inequality because you shouldn't have to be beat just because you have red blood, everyone should be accepted for who you are.
- The silvers ask Mare to pretend that she's one of them. This angers her because her actual community was getting treated like servants just to please people with silver blood. This connects to the social issue inequality because you should never dress up as someone else to get the same things they get to have.
