- Throughout my life I have had many husbands. The first three were submissive and they treated me well. The last two husbands treated me horribly. They cheated and neglected me. However my last husband gave me complete sovereignty and our marriage has lasted a long time.
- The wife of Bath's starts to tell a story about a knight of King Arthur . The knight was riding along a river and he saw a beautiful virgin all alone.
